You will be picked up from your hotel and met by our friendly English-speaking guide and experienced driver. We'll set off from Almaty and follow the New Silk Road of our time – Khorgos-Almaty highway.

 

On the way to the canyon, we will discuss more about the country, culture, people, and the history of this vast country. The driving time to Charyn Canyon from Almaty will take around 2.5 hours with stops on the way.

During our road trip, you will take in the variety of landscapes, including lush green fields to the endless steppe. On the way, we will have a stop at a charming Uighur village with a bustling market and smell of grilled meat and tandyr samsa (meat-filled savoury pastry baked in a tandyr oven!)

Try new food while being entranced while observing the diverse landscape of mysterious Bartogay lake and the impressive Charyn Canyon. There will be a gentle descent at the Valley of Castles so you can enjoy a picnic at the shore of the Charyn river that carved the canyon 12 million years ago, and then ascend up back to the surface with a short scramble up at the end.

 

So please make sure to wear comfortable shoes with a good outsole. We will also visit Charyn Canyon’s most secluded part –  Moon Canyon with Pliocene clays that date back 5 million years!

The adventure comes to an end today as we drive you back to your hotel so you can enjoy the rest of your evening.
